Monkey drummer, 2010-01-17
This is a well-made wooden monkey drum. It has only a short string to keep the drum stick in place - long enough to drum with but not so long as to be a hazard. Of course it stops the drumstick becoming lost.
The only problem with it is that the drum itself is made of wood suspended on elastic. It just doesn't sound very much. In fact it gives a better noise if you hit it on the nose of the monkey instead.
Compared to other toy drums this one doesn't really hold the attention of our daughter, because it just doesn't do very much.

My little boy has had these from about 8 months. He loves them. Really pretty and robust. We are getting a lot of use out of them. Definitely a good buy!

My niece loves musical instruments so I bought her this for her first birthday. She loved it so much she wouldn't put it down to open the rest of her presents.
Lovely, colourful, super large bells, would def recommend.

My baby loves these! I know he should be a bit older but he has so much fun with them at 6 months old. Consequently there's been a few bumps here and there but most of the time it is me doing the shaking and him doing the moving. He loves to hear the noise and laughs out loud when I dance whilst shaking them - good exercise for me ha!
When he has hold of them he bangs them on the side of his bounch chair. He only ever has one at a time because his concentration isn't strong enough to manage both. Using the maracas has improved his coordination. He likes to put the end in his mouth and I've had no problem with the quality of the maracas for him to be able to do this.
Obviously at his age it isn't a toy I can let him use unsupervised but I'd highly recommend them even at this young age.

I bought these castanets to go in my 4 year old daughter's Christmas Stocking. She was absolutely delighted, as was I. They look fantastic are very easy to use and look like they will wear well. They are so easy to use that even my 14 month son can use them so gets an immediate result.
I think that they were a real bargain. Good price, especially as they were offered with free delivery!
